  • Advocate at the Legislative level to preserve and improve public mental health services in Texas
  • Organized Legislative Thursdays to intrroduce Prosumers and their issues to local elected officials
  • Filmed and Produced many videos such as “Prosumers in Recovery”, “MR Choice”, “RDM”  and other videos designed to inform and empower people with disabilities.
  • Written and awarded grants  including: $7000.00 for Prosumers attending the NARPA 2003 National Conference, $23,700 Consumer Operated Service Provider, $2,000 NAMI National for training and stipends for consumers to present “In Our Own Voice”
  • Past Chairperson of the NAMI Texas Consumer Council – a council that was intiated to bring the voice of consumers to NAMI Texas that was by the consumers for the consumers - including policy and operating procedures, and planning and oversite of all events and projects, budget development and oversite, recruitment of volunteers and help to develop consensus.
  • Ongoing collaborations with consumers, family members, stakeholders, and advocates locally, state, nationally and internationally
  • Provided consumer representation in the development of, and implementation of needs assessment tool within an MHMR Community Center service area
  • Executed projects designed to increase awareness of mental health issues and diminish the stigma of mental illness
